Follow the steps below to keep Avid Media Composer projects in sync with help of Resilio Connect Agent using the Transparent Selective Sync.
1. BACKUP AND SYNCHRONISE AVID PROJECTS
First of all upload current Avid projects to a server. Depending on whether the projects can be among the workstations, this can be a single or several Distribution jobs for each of the workstations or a group of workstations. This can also be a Synchronisation job with all workstation agents being Read-Write agent and server - Read-Only.
In the Management Console create a Distribution job. Choose workstation(s) as Source agent and select path "/Users/username/Documents/Avid Projects". Select the server as destination agent in the job and choose a location that will keep the projects.
Once the job is done and all files are uploaded to the server, delete the job. Before deleting check in Agent' profiles that option "Data retention" is set to "Keep folder data on Agent".
2. PREPARE STORAGE FOR FURTHER SYNCING
On each workstation rename folder /Users/username/Documents/Avid Projects to some /Users/username/Documents/renamed_Avid Projects.
This is necessary because Transparent Selective Sync does not support pre-seeded folders.
3. SYNCHRONISE AVID MEDIA FILES
Create a synchronisation job and select the workstations as Read-Write agents. Choose path /Users/Shared/AvidMediaComposer/Avid MediaFiles.
You might also need another job for OMFI MediaFiles folder if your projects require that.
4. CREATE A TRANSPARENT SELECTIVE SYNC JOB
Enable option Advanced Selective Sync in Agent profile.
Create another Synchronisation job to keep the projects from step 1 in sync.
Select the server as read-write agent and choose the directory which keeps the synced projects from step1.
Select the workstations as read-write agents and enable Selective Sync for them. Choose /Users/username/Documents/Avid Projects and make sure that there no such folder on the workstations, since Transparent Selective Sync does not support pre-existing non-empty directories.
